Ralli quilts are traditional quilts made by women in Sindh, Pakistan, and the Rajasthan and Gujarat states of India.
Origin: The word "Ralli" comes from a Hindi word meaning "to join together" or "rags."
Characteristics: Old clothes and scraps are cut into small pieces and used to create geometric patterns, stars, and other designs through appliqué and patchwork.
Uses: They are cherished and used in various aspects of life, such as bedspreads, cushions, prayer mats, and bridal dowries.
Kantha refers to a type of sashiko embroidery that developed in West Bengal, India, and the surrounding areas of Bangladesh, as well as the quilts made using this technique. Origin: Derived from the Sanskrit word "kantha," meaning "rags," the term "Kantha embroidery" itself means "running stitch."
Features: Several layers of old saris or cotton cloth are layered and sewn together using fine running stitches, similar to sashiko embroidery. Colorful threads are used to create wavy or geometric patterns.
Uses: These can be transformed into a variety of items, such as stoles, bedspreads, and baby blankets.
Needles Used in Quilt Making: Traditional quilts like Lari quilts and Kantha are primarily hand-stitched, without the use of sewing machines.
Needles Used: Rather than specialized needles, ordinary hand-sewing needles (sharp needles/betweens) or sashiko needles are used. Because multiple layers of fabric are sewn together, strong and flexible needles are chosen. Basic technique: By simply repeating running stitches using fabric, thread, and a needle, you can create a unique surface texture and strength.

特徴: 古くなったサリーや綿布を何枚か重ね、細かいランニングステッチ（並縫い）で全体を刺し子のように縫い合わせます。カラフルな糸で波状や幾何学模様が施されます。
用途: ストールやベッドカバー、ベビーブランケットなど、多様なアイテムに生まれ変わります。
キルト作りに使われる針 (Needle)ラリキルトやカンタのような伝統的なキルトは、ミシンを使わず基本的に手縫いで仕上げられます。
使用される針: 専用の特殊な針ではなく、ごく一般的な手縫い針（Sharp needles / Betweens）や刺し子針 などが使われます。複数枚の布を重ねて縫うため、丈夫でしなりがある針が選ばれます。
基本のテクニック: 布と糸、針を使ってシンプルにザクザクと並縫い（ランニングステッチ）を繰り返すことで、独特の表面のテクスチャーと強度が生まれます。
